Method of Solving the Tolerance Synthesis Problem by Robust Design and Fuzzy Multiobjective Optimization

Robust design intends to optimize both the expected value and the deviation of the performance function and can be obtained by minimizing performance variab ility. Fuzzy multiobjective optimizat ion describes the performance criteria, called goals, and the constraints in terms of fuzzy membership functions. The membership function of the optimum value the decision – is obtained as conjunction of the goals and restraints. The paper presents a method of allocating tolerance intervals using robust design and fyzzy multiobjective optimizat ion. A concrete case of a 2R manipulator is analyzed. The system behavior is simulated using MATLAB.
